The Green Ontario Fund is a not-for-profit provincial agency, funded through the proceeds from Ontario’s carbon market, that is tasked with reducing greenhouse gas pollution in buildings and industry, with the goal of meeting Ontario’s emission reduction targets.
The Green Ontario Fund helps people and business take action to reduce energy use and reduce their emissions through programs and rebates. For homeowners, these include incentives to make energy-saving improvements to the heating and cooling systems in the home, as well as improvements to windows and insulation. For businesses, there are a number of programs and incentives to help industrial, commercial, and institutional operations save more energy and make improvements to reduce their carbon footprint.
The available incentives for individuals and businesses to help them reduce their energy usable and carbon emissions include:
GreenON Rebates - Insulation and Windows: Special rebates of up to $7,200 off insulation and up to $5,000 off select high-performance windows for your home. Save energy, keep the heat in, and reduce the stress on your furnace by replacing your windows and insulation. This program can also include rebates on air sealing your home
Smart Thermostat Rebate for Ontario Homes: Get a $100 rebate on a Smart Thermostat, letting you save money and energy in your home.
GreenON Rebates for Air-Source Heat Pumps: Air-Source Heat Pumps are an efficient way to heat and cool your home while reducing your carbon footprint, and you can receive up to $5,800 towards the installation or replacement of an air-source heat pump for your home.
GreenON Rebates for Ground-Source Heat Pumps: Ground source heat pumps are another great way to heat or cool your home while reducing carbon emissions. These pumps use the underground temperature of the earth to draw heat to warm your home, and reverse the cycle in the summer to cool your home. These pumps can reduce your heating costs by up to 50 percent.
GreenON Industries: The Green Ontario Fund has funding available to help industries reduce greenhouse gas pollution, with the goal of generating a measurable and deep pollution reduction while increasing the competitiveness and sustainability of Ontario industry. There are numerous categories of funding available to help larger industrial, commercial, and institutional operations reduce their carbon footprint and save money in the process.
GreenON Rebates are designed to make upgrading your home easier than ever. For your home, all you have to do is work with a participating contractor on your eligible home improvements, your contractor submits your rebate application on your behalf, and you validate that the work has been completed. After that, you will receive your rebate cheque in the mail.
